Business Principles
Eminently dynamic, Culture is also a process. It appears,
sets down roots, develops, lives (is experienced), intensifies,
renews itself. Culture is the work of people, but it is also the work
of the Community that they form. It remains open to the ever new
contribution of each and every one.
The shared principles and values, as well as the way in which
the community draws them up, defines and affirms them,
allow the community itself to be identified and discerned.
Culture is patrimony, but it is project, too.
The "culture" of a company is also like this.
These Business Principles, which are now divulged, are intended
to contribute to a corporate culture. The company itself is
a common enterprise. These present Principles are naturally
nurtured by the long experience of many people and institutions
that come together in Millennium bcp. But they were then subject
to teamwork within the scope of Social Responsibility
and Sustainability, and documents were analysed and various
stakeholders were interviewed.
Following their submission to the Sustainability Committee
they were again subject to sundry analysis and contributions.
The work will now go ahead, with the active critical involvement
of all, we hope. An involvement that begins by reading it,
reflecting on it and becoming fully conscious of it. It will be revised
periodically. All valid contributions will be taken into account.
These Principles must, in the first place, constitute a reference for all
the Bank's Employees. They will help us in our day-to-day work
and in the definition of strategies. They will be useful in the definition
of criteria, guiding us in resolving possible doubts, dilemmas or
conflicts of interest.
But they will also constitute a reference for all the other stakeholders,
and will therefore be disclosed to the public.
We know what is expected of us.
